Reduced-Fee ClinicThe Guild offers a community-based Reduced-Fee Clinic at 47 Nelson Square, London SE1 (phone 0207 401 3370). AimThe aim of the Clinic is to provide psychoanalytic psychotherapy for people on a low income (up to £16,000 per annum) who live in Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham. StaffingThe clinic is staffed by experienced psychotherapists and trainees in supervision. The Guild is a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Length of PsychotherapyThe clinic offers a once weekly 50-minute psychotherapy session for up to a maximum of two years, at an agreed regular time. FeesThe cost of the initial consultation is £25. There is a sliding scale for sessional fees according to income and personal circumstances, with a minimum fee of £5. The Referral ProcessThose seeking psychotherapy in the Clinic are asked to self-refer, by phoning the Guild office on 0207 401 3370. There is usually a waiting list to attend the Clinic, restricted to fifteen people at any one time. If the waiting list is open, you will be added to it and offered an initial consultation as soon as possible. When psychotherapy begins, it is normal practice for your GP to be informed. If you are under the care of a psychiatrist, it is also normal practice for there to be liaison with this professional.
