FAQCan I first have a consultation, a ‘finding-out’ session?Yes, you can. During this session you and your therapist address questions that you may have and/or decide whether you would be able to work together. How much would I have to pay?Your fees would be negotiated between you and your therapist. Can I choose a male or female therapist?Yes, so long as both male and female psychotherapists are available in the area in which you are seeking a service. How long would my therapy last? How frequent would the sessions be?The amount and frequency of sessions will depend on your personal needs, among other things, and these questions would be discussed and agreed by you and your therapist. Can I apply for the Guild’s Reduced-Fee Clinic?You can apply if you live in the Clinic’s Area of Benefit. For further information about our Reduced-Fee Clinic please click the associated link on the right menu. I think I will need a reduced fee, but I am outside the Reduced-Fee Clinic’s area. Can I be still be seen for less?Most Guild psychotherapists have some places for lower-fee clients. We recommend that you ask the therapists you may contact if they have any such vacancies. Can I speak to someone about therapy and how to select a psychotherapist?If you would like to speak to someone for help in selecting a therapist, please contact one of our regional referral coordinators. Many of our trainees are qualified counsellors and have been working in the field for many years. All students and trainees are supervised by qualified Guild members. |
