Clinical Discussion Group
Medway, Kent
This small group is for established counsellors and therapists to meet regularly and consider their practice from a range of psychoanalytic perspectives. Distinct from supervision, this Clinical Discussion Group aims to stimulate depth and breadth of thinking, by taking unconscious processes into account. By being interested in the often contradictory bodies of psychoanalytic thought available to us, we can continue to develop our capacity to think about and respond effectively to our clients and the issues that bring them to us.
We grapple with the theories developed by Freud, Melanie Klein, Jung, Lacan, and Bion, inter alia. Our purpose is to create an opportunity to explore and discover together some of what these great clinicians have to say, so that we can come to understand something new and fresh about the ultimately unfathomable reaches of the human psyche.
I ask you to come prepared to think about your own practice through the lens of the particular theories we will be exploring so that we can all be part of the thinking and discussion. To be able to create a culture of trust and openness, I ask participants to make a commitment to the group for a period of a year.
The Clinical Discussion Group meets fortnightly, on Monday evenings, in Medway, Kent Due to the success of the current group, a new group will be starting in the Autumn of 2010. If you are interesting in participating, do contact Ruth Jones on 01634 855807 ruthjones@therapylink.freeserve.co.uk
